1. Content Sourcing

All news content displayed in the Safely Together app is sourced from established news publishers and news aggregation services. We do not generate original news content.

• Articles are sourced via reputable third-party news APIs
• We prioritize content from verified and established news outlets
• Sources are selected based on their editorial standards and journalistic integrity

2. Community Incident Reports

The safety incidents shown on our live map are reported by Safely Together users, not by our editorial team. Because these reports affect public safety, we moderate them carefully:

• Reports are labelled as community-submitted and are not presented as verified news
• Automated and human review filters out spam, duplicates, and content that violates our community standards
• Community members can flag inaccurate or misleading reports for review
• Users who repeatedly submit false reports may have their reporting privileges suspended
• Anonymous tips are reviewed before being shared with relevant authorities

3. Content Selection

Articles are selected for display based on the following criteria:

• Relevance: Content must be relevant to community safety, security awareness, and local events
• Recency: We prioritize the most recent articles to keep our users informed of current events
• Geographic proximity: Where possible, articles are matched to the user's location for local relevance
• Category fit: Content is organized by categories (e.g., Safety, Community, Alerts) for easy navigation

Article selection is automated based on these criteria. We do not manually curate individual articles.

4. Editorial Standards

• We display articles as published by the original source without modification
• Each article clearly shows its source attribution
• Content is tagged with publication dates to provide temporal context
• We do not add editorial commentary or opinion to news articles

5. Fact-Checking & Accuracy

As an aggregator, Safely Together relies on the editorial standards of our source publishers. However, we take accuracy seriously:

• We source content exclusively from established news organizations with their own editorial standards
• Users can report inaccurate or misleading content through the app
• Reported content is reviewed and may be removed if it violates our standards

6. Copyright & Takedown

We respect the intellectual property rights of news publishers and content creators:

• Aggregated articles always credit the original publisher and link back to the source where available
• We display headlines and summaries; full articles remain on the publisher's own platform
• Publishers or rights holders may request removal of their content at any time by emailing us — we act on valid takedown requests within 72 hours

7. Sponsored & AI-Generated Content

• We do not currently accept payment for news placement. If sponsored content is ever introduced, it will be clearly labelled as such
• News articles are published as provided by our sources. Any AI-assisted summaries or categorisation are reviewed against the original article before display

8. Corrections & Reporting

If you believe any content displayed in the app is inaccurate, misleading, or otherwise problematic, please contact us. We review all reports within 72 hours and take appropriate action, which may include correction or removal of the content:
